dr Gertruud Krekels, MD, PhD, MBA is a mohs surgeon since 1996. She was a staff member of the Maastricht University Medical Center until 2003. She was the initiator of a large randomised trial: Mohs surgery versus conventional surgery for facial BCC. The results of this study were published in the Lancet in 2004/2008. She was a teaching Professor at Catharina Hospital Eindhoven, Bravis Hospital Bergen op Zoom and University Hospital Nijmegen. In 2012 she opened Mohs Acadamy (MOHSA) a private clicic with her colleagues dr Judith Ostertag, dr Simone van der Geer and dr Marc Verhaegh. MOHSA (located in Eindhoven, Venray and Bladel in the Netherlands) is since 2024 part of Bergman Clinics. She was a board member of the ESMS ( Secretary and later President until 2012). She is an international mentor of the American Society for Dermatological Surgery. She was appointed as a teaching professor at the University of Technology in Eindhoven. Her research focuses on skin cancer treatment, prevention and effectiveness.
